   Proposal Description:
   An ability discrepancy (crystallized - fluid abilities) might be a subtle behavioral marker of preclinical Alzheimer?s disease. No studies have investigated the extent that an ability discrepancy might be differentially sensitive across diverse characteristics, thus promoting or reducing its generalizability. The goal is to assess whether sex, race, and SES moderate level of ability discrepancy. To answer this question data will be used from the National Alzheimer?s Coordinating Center.   The present study has 2 aims:   1) Does an ability discrepancy measure differ depending on our key diversity metrics (sex, race, and education) in cognitively normal older adults?   2) Is an ability discrepancy measure equally predictive of cognitive status across varying levels of diverse backgrounds?
